About Deaf Outreach Program (DOP)
The Deaf Outreach Program (DOP) provides education and support services relating to HIV/AIDS in the Deaf & Hard of Hearing communities in Ontario, Canada.
The DOP was established in 1987 by the AIDS Committee of Toronto and the Deaf community with consultation by the OAD, Canadian Hearing Society, Toronto Association of the Deaf, Toronto Rainbow Alliance of the Deaf, and Deaf persons living with HIV/AIDS. DOP was transferred to OAD in 1998.

DOP Mission
We believe that when our communities work together, we can make a powerful impact in the fight against HIV and AIDS across Ontario. Ensuring communication access and eliminating barriers remain our top priorities.
DOP is a program of the Ontario Association of the Deaf, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals. We provide education and support services related to HIV/AIDS, empowering our community with accurate information, resources, and guidance. All of our materials are available in ASL (American Sign Language) and are used by Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals, interpreters, schools, hospitals, clinics, and community partners throughout Ontario.

About DOP Community Outreach Coordinator
Hello there, my name is Alexandrose (William) Dayment.
I am the Community Outreach Coordinator at the Deaf Outreach Program (DOP), operated by the Ontario Association of the Deaf (OAD).
Here’s a bit about me: I am originally from Quebec, where I grew up on a small farm until I was 16 years old. I later moved to Ontario and attended a Deaf institute. After completing some college courses, I worked in the hearing world for several years. Eventually, I returned to Ontario—this time closer to Toronto—to reconnect with my identity, the Deaf community, and the LGBTQIA2S+ community.
I have extensive experience serving both the Deaf and LGBTQIA2S+ communities, including involvement with various Deaf organizations and Deaf-owned businesses. My professional background includes video editing, vlog production, filming, translation, Deaf interpreting, captioning, and more.
In my role at DOP, I bring together all of my previous experience to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, safer sex, healthcare access, condoms, insertable condoms, and other important sexual health topics.
You are always welcome to ask me any questions—there are no “stupid” questions when it comes to learning about HIV/AIDS, safer sex, or healthcare. I am here to provide information in a safe and supportive space. All conversations with me are confidential; what we discuss stays strictly between you and me.
I look forward to meeting all of you—both familiar faces and new ones.
Thank you, and cheers!
