Being Deaf in Ontario

Posted on: 12 January 2011 by Steve Paikin

Ever wonder what it's like to live as a deaf person in the province of Ontario?

Dean Walker knows. He's the head of the Ontario Association of the Deaf.

I recently met him at an event in Toronto and as we got to talking, it occurred to me that the daily experiences of living with a hearing disability would make for an interesting interview.

Not only that, but I couldn't remember the last time I saw a deaf person interviewed on television.

Watch the interview, and see whether you re-think your notions of what being disabled means.
